Inside MusiCast 'Pick Of The Day': “Stay With Me Baby”, by Kiki Dee. Selected by Rick Such

For this week's picks, I'm going to focus on songs that feature Jeff Porcaro.

Today's pick is the track "Stay With Me Baby", from Kiki Dee's 1978 album release, "Stay With Me." The song was written by Jerry Ragovoy and George David Weiss and was first recorded in 1966 by Lorraine Ellison. Kiki's version was arranged by Marty Paich and engineered and produced by Bill Schnee. The album itself contains some incredible players, such as Steve Lukather, David Hungate, Jim Keltner, Greg Phillinganes, Tom Snow, James Newton Howard, Bob Glaub, Arnold McCuller, David Lasley, Brenda Russell, Davey Johnstone, and Victor Feldman, to name a few.

Whenever I hear this tune, I've always gotten the vibe that the Toto song "Out Of Love" might have been inspired by this tune's groove. Maybe?

Enjoy!
