You remember this #1 hit by trumpeter Herb Alpert. RISE was released in 1979 and featured the wonderful bass solos by Abraham Laboriel Sr. As an instrumental album, it surprised everyone when it garnered huge popularity and also a couple Grammy nominations. This is a prime example that features Laboriel's solid groove and feel. How can a tune so simple, require such feel? Take a listen, as Abe Laboriel almost steals the limelight form the horn leads.
