Inside MusiCast 'Pick Of The Day': “You”, by Rita Coolidge. Selected by Rick Such.

Written by past Inside MusiCast guest Tom Snow, the song “You” originally appeared on his 1975 album “Taking It All In Stride.” Two years later, Australian recording artist Marcia Hines recorded the song and it was the second single from her third studio album, Ladies and Gentlemen, released in October 1977. It peaked at number 2 in Australia, and remains Hines' highest charting single in Australia.

In 1978, Rita Coolidge also recorded “You”, which appeared on her sixth album, 1978's Love Me Again. The song peaked at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 17 in Canada. There were some great players on this track, including Jay Graydon and Jerry McGee on guitars, Booker T. Jones on Organ, Mike Baird on drums, Mike Utley on electric piano, and Jim Haas on backing vocals.
