Terry Sampson

Hello everyone. This is Terry Sampson in LA. Below are a few photos of my work space – where I do my writing and recording.

I hope you enjoyed my interview with Rick and Eddy. The story of how I got a record deal with P-Vine Records for my first record, “E, Just E”, was surely an “unlikely story”. Below you can see the original album cover that I sent out to anyone who would take a listen. That was twenty-five years ago in 1997. My hair was a little darker back then. It was never released, as you already know. But, thanks to Mikael Engströrm and Jörgen Johanson, who discovered and pitched the project to P-Vine Records in Japan, the record deal happened. A truly amazing story. Also shown is the NEW “E, Just E” album cover used for the new release. My hair is a little lighter, but the music on the album is still fresh.

I hope you enjoy the album. – Terry

Every enjoyable day involves playing this Yamaha G5, shown here with a blank piece of paper waiting for a decent idea. In the corner is a Telly award I hope everyone thinks is an Oscar award instead.

Here’s a photo of me blowing my chances to be a keyboard trumpeter. My butcher block “mix” desk features a cheap, but wide screen for easy editing, Genelec 1031a monitors, the Bose Sound Link Mini, and external laptop speakers to go with my big boy size cup of tea.

The Radio Free Bessemer vocal booth is an “acceptable” New York sized-apartment. We are blessed with microphone options, including this freak - the body of an AKG C-28 (a miniature C-12 tube amp and transformer) and a Red (Blue Mic) lollipop screw-on with a Neumann 47 style capsule. It sounds great for just the right voice.

The rack features a pair of old 1272 Neve preamps, a pair of Amek 9098 preamps with EQ, 2 Forssell Mic Pre Prototype preamps, a Chandler EMI TC-500 preamp, Hairball Lola pre, and a TubeTech CL1A compressor. The Asian artwork was created by my pal, the Commander General of the Chinese Air Force, who is also a songwriter and playwright.
