Quint Starkie

Hello everyone! Quint Starkie here from Stockholm,

Here are some more pics of the place (studio) where I wrote and recorded my debut album. There is a backstory to why I chose this location.

I have a state of the art studio with full blown Protools/Logic Pro X systems and all the bells and whistles where I have composed and produced music for TV and media for the last 25 years. When it came time to record my album, I wanted to get out of that space with all it’s commercial ”baggage” and wanted to record in a space that had natural daylight and a view that was inspiring. This space provided just that.

I went out and bought an Apollo twin and maxed out my iMac with tones of RAM, and found an empty ”Kitchen” on a top floor. I demo’d all the songs in this room and recorded all vocals, proving that with a good mic and pre you can record anywhere.

And occasionally, if you playback the vocal demo tracks, sometimes I would hear birdsongs in the mix, as I sometimes kept the patio doors open. No worries. I assumed I would re-record the vocals ”for real” in a proper space later, but in the end I kept everything in my ”demo” vocals.

Attached are pictures of the space, the gear and some other locations  (New York).

Overdubs where recorded in Nashville, Los Angeles, New York and London.
